Kyiv: Kyrgyz parliament cancelled state of emergency in Bishkek on Friday, October 16, local media reports.

It’s noted that parliamentary deputies unanimously voted for cancelling of state of emergency, imposed by outgoing president of the country Sooronbay Jeenbekov in the background of mass protests. 

As previously reported, president of Kyrgyzstan Sooronay Jeenbekov declared his resignation. According to Kyrgyz constitution, if president resigns, his mandate will be transferred to chairperson of parliament.

Mass protests began in Kyrgyzstan on September 5. Protesters expressed disagreement with results of parliamentary elections. Supporters of opposition not elected into parliament, seized the parliament building. According to local media, clashes between law enforcement and activists caused about 1,2 thousand casualties including 1 dead.
