Kiev: President Volodymyr Zelensky said that he was very impressed by the storming of the Capitol by Donald Trump's supporters and believes that it will be difficult for the world to perceive the United States as a symbol of democracy after that.
He said this in an interview with Axios, which was broadcast on HBO platforms.
“We are used to thinking that the United States has ideal democratic institutions, where power is transferred calmly. ... In Ukraine, we have experienced two revolutions ... We understood that this could happen in the world. But what could this happen in the United States? I did not expect ... I was very worried ... I did not want you to have a coup, "Zelensky said.
He also believes that after these events it will be very difficult for the world to perceive the United States as a symbol of democracy.
