Kiev: Ukraine will receive 117,000 doses of vaccine from US-made Pfizer-BioNTech in February. The vaccine will be distributed to vaccinate hospital workers treating COVID-19 patients.
This was announced by the chief sanitary doctor Viktor Lyashko on his Facebook page.
As Lyashko noted, the COVAX initiative received applications for the first wave from 72 countries, 18 countries were selected, including Ukraine.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Health, the first batch of COVID-19 vaccines will arrive in Ukraine in mid-February.
As Lyashko noted, as part of the COVAX initiative, contracts have already been signed for 40 million doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine and 150 million doses of AstraZeneca / Oxford, which will be available to the countries participating in the global mechanism in the first quarter of this year.
