Kyiv: Michael Ryan, Director of the World Health Organization's Health Emergencies Program, warned of the risk of further spread of the new coronavirus, even after large-scale vaccinations.
The director of the WHO emergency program does not believe that the world should consider the elimination or eradication of the coronavirus as a criterion for success.
When asked if COVID-19 will become endemic, Ryan stressed that vaccination coverage will not be able to stop transmission for the foreseeable future.
According to Ryan, the countries of the world can hardly expect to get rid of the virus in 2021.
According to Ryan, "we must strive to achieve control over the virus."
